It started in Ethiopia. That's where we start too.
The coffee ceremony isn't a marketing concept at ADOLA — it's the reason we exist.
In Ethiopia, coffee has never just been a drink. It's a gathering. A ritual of hospitality so important that to refuse an invitation to the ceremony is considered impolite. Three rounds. Hours together. Community built over a jebena.
We brought that to Calgary.
ADOLA was founded to give this city more than another café. We wanted to offer an origin — a place where every cup connects back to the highlands of Ethiopia, where Arabica coffee was first discovered. Where the beans are still grown by small farmers, harvested by hand, and prepared with intention.
We're proud to be Calgary's Ethiopian coffee home. And we're just getting started.
We know where every bean comes from. The cooperative, the elevation, the harvest week. If we can't trace it, we don't pour it.
The ritual is the product, not the packaging. We protect the ceremony from being reduced to a centerpiece.
From Ethiopian tradition to Calgary neighbourhood. We're here for the regulars, the first-timers, and everyone in between.
Coffee cherries hand-picked from cooperatives in Gedeo, Sidamo, and Guji.
Washed or natural processed at the cooperative wet mill. Sun-dried on raised beds.
Roasted weekly in Calgary, in small batches, profile-matched to the lot.
In your cup — at the café, at your event, or at home with the kit.
Warm wood, low light, the smell of fresh roast. Step in off Maclaurin Drive and the city goes quiet.
